Laptop Processors Help

I am not a specialist in computing.However i would and always have gone for Intel,especially more recently core 2 duo.As web pages,programs etc are increasingly needing more computer power,it is better to be over specd than under specd.I have used other processors at friends-amd-find them annoying as iv so got use to the speed I get with my core2duo.
