Wouldn't it be way more balanced of the MW2 grenade launchers had a 3 second countdown before detonating ?

I completely agree with you, between Commando and Tubers it's hard to enjoy the game sometimes. Unfortunately IW is proud of it's realism and a grenade launcher with a count down timer isn't realistic. Come to think of it lunging 10 feet to knofe someone isn't realistic either....hmmmmmm, Halo time.
