Popular Votes vs. Electoral Votes?

the popular vote while simpler is almost impossible because accurate votes are contested after a close election if every vote was counted as one vote they would have to every ballot because they are all of equal value costing tax payers millions. Also say a large state like california votes 60% democrat and oklahoma votes 100 percent republican that ten percent would totally negate the votes of all of one state. So it could cause antiunionism and start another civil war.
